Hamilton Sundstrand is a subsidiary of United Technologies, and designs and manufactures aerospace systems. The business and finance managers at Hamilton Sundstrand needed up-to-the-minute reports on the operational data that resided in their JD Edwards system.

Previously, writing reports was time-consuming and complicated, and used data that was sometimes 30 days old. Running reports on the data that resided on the JD Edwards system, which ran on IBM AS/400 servers, meant substantial performance degradation of the AS/400.

Hamilton Sundstrand chose RapidDecision, which provided the data warehouse and data marts on which the Business Objects analysis tools were built.

As the warehouse resided on Microsoft’s SQL Server, running reports no longer caused any performance degradation on the JD Edwards production system.

Furthermore, the data which the reports analyzed was up-to-the-minute.
The RapidDecision solution, of a data warehouse and seven data marts, was implemented within eight weeks.
